NOTE: The MENUs have been re-ordered so that the logically-most-often-used
menus appear first in order. The confusing TYPE, DISH terminology
has been replaced by STYLE (= cooking style) and GAME (= game type).
RECIPES.DOC (this file) has been changed accordingly.
*** 6 January 88 revision ***
NOTE: The driving program has been modified to provide a more humanized
method of searching out a desired recipe: During the FIND menu
selection, options for STYLE GAME or NAME are offered. STYLE
and GAME list out cooking method and game type,
respectively. These stay on the screen while an input option
to select a specific recipe by name is offered. Input of a blank
name, simply a <RETURN>, brings up the FIND QUIT ADD menu.
Other changes are contemplated, as well as additions to the
recipe selections. Automatic redistribution will follow.
PURPOSE:
Provide a recipe data base for wild game recipes.

RECIPES.IXD - INDEX FILE for search of RECIPES.DAT by GAME (Game Animal)
RECIPES.IXN - INDEX FILE for search of RECIPES.DAT by recipe NAME
RECIPES.IXT - INDEX FILE for search of RECIPES.DAT by cooking STYLE (Stew,
Sauce, Roast, Baked, Fried, etc.)
USE:
Type in the word RECIPES at the operating system prompt.
This brings up a menu with only three options: (LIST QUIT UPDATE).
LIST: Selection of the List option then offers a choice of (P)rinter
or (S)creen. Either choice presents the Output menu, which
offers UNSORTED, STYLE of cooking, GAME or wild game name,
NAME of the specific recipe.
UNSORTED - Output in the order of indexing or input.
NAME - Output alphabetically by Recipe
GAME - Output by type of wild game
STYLE - Output by preparation method.
UPDATE: Selection of UPDATE option offers a menu of FIND
or QUIT or ADD.
ADD - Requires a unique NAME of recipe assignment
FIND - Places CURSOR on the code line for input of a
specific cooking style, which will bring up the first recipe
of that style.
Responding to the STYLE:__________
prompt with a RETURN will prompt for NAME:__________________.
Type in a recipe name from listing or the first few letters.
A successful FIND presents a menu for continued search with
NEXT (PREVIOUS (Q)uit.
COPY - prints out recipe to the printer.
NEXT - Positions to the next record in numeric sequence
PREVIOUS selects the record one numerical place ahead
(less than) the record found.
QUIT - offers a menu to (EDIT (DELETE (Q)uit. Selection
of QUIT returns to (ADD (FIND (Q)uit.
QUIT - from the (ADD (FIND (Q)uit menu returns to the
original opening menu.
QUIT - Exits the program and returns to the DOS prompt. Any changes or
deletions make with the (EDIT or (DELETE key are written back
to the data base and become permanent.
ADDITIONAL EDIT CODES:
The following Control Key Codes are functional when in the EDIT mode:
CNTL-E - Backs up one entry in the edit data form.
CNTL-D - Move forward one character without overwriting (Non-destruct)
CNTL-S - Move backward one character (Non-destructive)
CNTL-A - Move to start of current field (first character)
CNTL-F - Move to end of field (used to backspace out a field)
CNTL-G - Erase field.
CNTL-H - Rings the bell (beeper)
CNTL-Y - ERASES field contents from CURSOR to END OF FIELD.
CNTL-I - Jumps to next field (Same as CNTL-X)
CNTL-M - Supplies a <RETURN> and steps to next field
CNTL-X - Jumps to next field (Same as CNTL-I)
CNTL-Z - End of edit or Add and save new or changed data.
Note: During EDIT, when a field does not require changes, simply enter
RETURN and the field data will be retained. This mode may be used
to quickly position into the record during edit.
